Central Track
Traditionally reopened on 1st April. It was agreed that this would be adhered to.
Equipment
CM proposed that the equipment we have is not fit for purpose. Items discussed were the tractor, shredder and rotavator.
Rotavator, whilst not being the most appropriate for the site is usable but not accessible. JG and ML to try and move equipment so it is accessible. CM explained difference between shredder and mulcher. A mulcher, smaller and able to break up smaller more twiggy material would be more suitable for CAGA. JG and ML to visit Helpful Hirings to familiarize themselves with different types. CM proposed that he contacted suppliers of shredder and find out what we could get as a trade in for the tractor and shredder. These items would be replaced, subject to value, with a mulcher and a small 24” sit on tractor with self-tipping trailer. Suitable for less able to use for mowing paths and for transporting compost etc along the track. ML to supply CM with contact details of company which supplied shredder. Rotavator models which would be suited for allotment use are MTD good in dry, Honda front digger good in wet and dry.
Loan of equipment
Borrowers of equipment must be able to demonstrate competence. That is after being shown how to use equipment they must for example mow some grass or rotavate some of ground under supervision. If competent then committee member supervising may sign them as competent. Plot holder must sign to say they take responsibility for the equipment and their actions including use of appropriate safety equipment. PPE is hard hat, goggles, eye protection, gloves and sturdy boots. Machines will not be loaned if plot holder is not wearing PPE.
Maintenance
All equipment to be fitted with a maintenance label. After each loan equipment to be inspected for damage, oil and fuel to be checked. Ticket dated and signed as ready for loan.
