7.       Financial Report

SR - noting bank figures.

SR - reported shop takings down for October as expected and raffle made a profit PG was thanked by GP

SR - Discussed using a deposit account now that interest rates are going up and will investigate and report back at next meeting.

A discussion was had as regards to future possible expenditure

I.e., Roof repairs.

SR - discussed a possible Accrual to the accounts.

8.       Shop Report

PB - We have sold quite a lot of compost recently and ran out. We had a delivery of 40 Bags of compost and 4 Bundles of bean canes for next year. Which meant we got free delivery and at last year’s prices.

An order has been placed for seed potatoes essentially the same as last year with a request that they are delivered mid-February (with selling price of £2-£2.50 per 2kg bag) with the order made up to free delivery with other items.

SR - noted Broad beans sold well last week.

9.       Plot Lettings

GP Read out Rod’s Plot report.

12 on waiting list, still 3 unpaid rents JG has chased all by phone all to be paid by Sunday 20/11. Rod due to hand over to SR all monies so that a line can be drawn under it.

BC - commented that Colleen Perry on 13F, 13B & 14B was doing a good job and he cannot see her giving up.

GP - advised that we have had a request to erect a greenhouse.

A discussion was then had, and the rules are that it can be 6 x 4 plastic only and at bottom end of plot or in middle if back plot, It was advised that the council has agreed providing the above are adhered to.

The Allotment Rules need amending and plot holders advised that they could have green houses.

BC advised that he has been looking at the Rules and along with BR will look at them in conjunction with RL and advise the committee at the next meeting of any changes they think are needed.

Unsure of current free plots to let BC advised that he has quite a few to rotavate but will need to wait for better weather.

RL has proposed that plots 56F,56B,57F and 57B be cleared rotavated and converted into 8 quarter plots for those on the waiting list who only require a small plot to grow their crops on.

GP - As per discussion at the AGM to set up mid-week work parties dates to be agreed.

GP – Marker posts 150off 900x50x50 cost of £187.00 +vat there is a quantity of stakes in the garage which can be used as well £60.00 for numbers SR to check for letters as well, aluminium to be sprayed with lacquer to be sourced by SR.

Rod to order stakes and 10lts of wood preserver from Briants on account. GP sourcing aluminium plates.

18/12 at 12.00 – 1.30 after shop, RL to put on Facebook plot holders and partners only. Veronica Collier to get 30 mince pies (types?) BR to speak to Brian? PG to do mulled wine.

13.   S1060 Monies

BR – Gave brief history of Monies and advised must be spent before June 2024 available for the improvement of the allotments for good purpose.

MG – suggested the improvement of the track to all weather down the centre of the allotments. Rejected but install a lift up lockable posts at each end to stop people driving along the centre during the winter.

BR  - also said possible the CD roof might need repairing/replacing or the complete replacement of the CD.

This discussion went on to speak about the Registering of the land which was inconclusive as to what course to take.

Also, discussions about fencing, the water supply, and the cost of registering the land.

SR – To investigate map search to identify if the land has been registered.

PG – we need some “No Entry” signs approx. 12 x12. SR to go ahead and order.

SR – brought up the problem of water during the summer and BC advised of some plot holders near him of watering for hours and that needs to be stopped and possible a limit of 1/2hr at a time

Next Meeting

 

BR – raised the problem of the person driving down the track.

And said we need to ascertain which plot it is check with RL who the plot holder is.

PG – said he would get some stakes from the garage to put in each end of the track.

BC – raised the issue of the bin lid unresolved.

BC – Out of Diesel. PG will get some.

BC – raised issue of minutes SR advised go up after they have been approved.

BC – advised his daughter has a computer do we need it? BR requested that it be brought up to have a look at it. Also is it safe keeping at the centre as a heater has gone missing.

BC – raised the problem of existing heaters which do not work properly. New Calor Gas Heater £100-£140.

SR – to bring down an alternative heater to check out.
