CHINNOR ALLOTMENT & GARDEN ASSOCIATION ESTABLISHED 1926
Dear plot holder
It is good to see the activity on the site and crops being planted. It was a shame that some early plantings got hit by the frost but hopefully some plants will recover. We welcome our new plot holders.
This newsletter includes important and urgent information. Please read to the end.
- Chris McGuire has resigned as Chair. A scan of his resignation is attached, He says
Dear All
I herewith tender my resignation as Chair and committee member and give notice of one of my allotments. It troubles me much to do so! But my body has told me to, you all know! Members I mean, some don’t.
The fact is many who complain must learn to become self-reliant in this changing world. You can’t depend on others. Especially as food runs scarce.
Bless you all.
Chris McGuire
- I am sure you would all like to thank Chris for his hard work and dedication. His knowledge of and experience in all things horticultural and environmental is exceptional. As is his dedication to enabling people to grow their own food. He has worked extremely hard to ensure CAGA meets the Health and Safety regulations which have come into force this year. If these regulations are not met CAGA could be forced to close the buildings and dispose of the equipment to the detriment of plot holders.
- This leaves us with three committee members, an insufficient number to run the site effectively and make the necessary decisions about the site for our members.
- We need volunteers to step forward either as full members of the committee or to be co-opted for specific tasks.
- We all need to work together to ensure the constitution of our site as a viable community for growing food.
- We would like to thank all those who attend work parties or help in other ways, for example in the shop on Sundays or decanting fertilisers into smaller bags for sale.
- Please support the Growing Hub, we have a range of products at competitive prices. We should be your first port of call. The more you use us the more products we can sell. The money we make goes towards the running of the site and maintenance of the buildings.
- If you are or believe you are the last person on the site, irrespective of the time of day, please lock the gate behind you. Members are reminded to always carry their key.
- Can you or do you know someone who can undertake PAT testing. We have equipment which urgently needs testing to meet Fire Safety Regulations.
- The next working parties are on Saturday 13th June and Thursday 25th June from 9.30am to 12 noon on both days.
- If you would like to help but can’t attend work parties, there is a list of tasks in the window of the growing hub anyone can tackle. If you complete a task please let us know by email or WhatsApp.
- Weekend 6th & 7th June is Chinnor Open Gardens (COG). Allotment gates will be left open for people to walk through the site. Please welcome visitors,
- Children are welcome on the site but parents are reminded to supervise them at all times.
Happy Allotmenteering
